The ‘Emerging Kerala’ meet may rope in some sizeable investment for the state. The meet which has showcased the potential sectors of the state for investment, has proved to be beneficial to G Shanavas, a native of Anchal in Kollam district. The paint ejecting system invented by him has been in display at the exhibition centre and many investors, including those from abroad have shown interest in his machine.
“After inventing the device I approached the incubation centre at Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram. They advised me to exhibit the product at the ‘Emerging Kerala’ venue. Foreign and domestic investors have shown interest in the equipment,” said Shanavas.
The paint ejecting system consists of an air compressor and a paint-spraying gun. It enhances the spraying efficiency 30 times by avoiding the inconvenience of the existing spray painting systems. Since the production cost of the equipment is Rs 1.74 lakh, Shanavas approached the Technopark incubation centre. “I have given the details to the incubation centre. The centre has its own limitations. To woo potential investors I have decided to showcase the product here which proved right,” he said.
The initial discussions about the viability of the project were held with some of the investors. Shanavas claimed that the paint ejecting system can perform the duty of 30 labourers a day and can save 30 per cent the paint cost. Using this device an area of 1500 to 2000 sq feet can be painted in an hour, he said.
