Six persons went missing when a car and an autorickshaw got washed away in Kallemvanka Vagu near Nagaradona village in Chippagiri mandal of Kurnool district on the Andhra-Karnataka borders on Saturday. The rivulet was overflowing due to heavy rain in the upland areas.
The mishap occurred when the drivers going towards Guntakal in Anantapur from Alur in Kurnool district tried to cross the rivulet. While the car was carrying three persons, there were six persons in the autorickshaw.
An RTC driver who was passing by saved the autodriver and two passengers with the help of locals.
Adoni revenue divisional officer Ramasundar Reddy along with revenue and police personnel launched rescue operations.
The RDO said that only three persons travelling by car were missing.
Meanwhile, traffic on the highway was affected as vehicles were stranded on either side of the road.
