Srinagar: After Saturday's heavy snowfall, things have really frozen in Srinagar, with mercury recording -5.5 in Srinagar but in Gulmarg its -17.
Other places are also frozen. But that's not the only worry that Srinagar residents face. Their real worry is that of the power connection.
There's been absolutely no connectivity for the last 24 hours, and the prospect of spending another dark night is still hovering around with Power Development authorities saying that it is going to take another 2 days before they are able to restore electricity to its full.
Having said that, they claim that there have been at least 6 to 7 damages that have taken place on the 400 kv main line that comes from the Northern Grid to Kashmir, and another 122 kv from the Kishenpur farmpore transmission line which also is affected.
We are being told that authorities are on it and in fact they've pressed some men in a chopper so that they can do the repair work. However that too is expected to take some time.
