Los Angeles: The 3D documentary film on the UK-based global music sensation One Direction will be produced by Sony Pictures. The boyband comprising of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, were discovered by music mogul Simon Cowell on the 'The X Factor' UK in 2010.
Post the show, the band quickly garnered a gigantic and loyal fanbase. Acclaimed documentary film maker Morgan Spurlock will direct the film, which will hit theatres on August 30 next year.
Spurlock, alongwith Ben Winston, Simon Cowell, and Adam Milano will produce the film.
"This is an incredible opportunity and an amazing moment in time for the band. To capture this journey and share it with audiences around the world will be an epic undertaking that I am proud to be a part of," Spurlock said in a statement.
Cowell added, "I am delighted we are making this film and Morgan is the perfect person to give that access-all-areas, behind-the-scenes look into what it is like to be One Direction today.
"What the band have achieved is incredible, they and their fans have made history around the world this is for them," he added.
