MUNNAR: A group of people attacked the excise team who were on their way to conduct a raid at the Munnar Estates on Friday. P A Biju, excise guard at Kattappana Excise Range was seriously injured in the attack. The excise team decided to conduct the raid following a tip-off that illicit liquor is being sold in the Estates. “A group of people led by Karuppaya, a member of the spirit mafia, residing at Puthukkadi, are behind the attack,” police authorities said.
