BANGALORE: The city police have arrested a suspected Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorist in Lalganj of Darbhanga district in Bihar, in connection with the twin blasts which rocked M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 17, 2010.The suspect, Mohammed Khafeel Akhtar alias Khafeel, 26, a native of Barasmela village in Lalganj, was arrested on Sunday. He was a teacher in Al-Ajari School in Darbhanga, the police said.City Police Commissioner B G Jyothi Prakash Mirji said that the suspect was preaching Jihad to Muslim youths. “He has been in touch with IM Chief Riaz Bhatkal, his brother Iqbal Bhatkal, Yasin Bhatkal, Mousin Chowdari, Mohammad Qateel Siddiqui, Tariqh, Gohar Ajiz Komani, Kamal Hasan alias Bilal alias Billu alias Kalu and Pasi Ahmed, who are the other accused in the case. He was part of the discussions that took place in Delhi and Darbhanga to conspire attacks near Chinnaswamy Stadium. Investigations also revealed that he has supplied a cellphone and SIM card to Yasin, who had played a key role in the twin blasts, besides providing logistic support to carry out the blasts. Akthar was produced at a court in Ranchi of Jharkhand. He will be brought to the city soon,” Mirji said.Police had earlier arrested Qateel, Aftab Alam alias Farooq, Mohammad Tarique Anjum Hasan, Gayur Ahmad Jamali, Gohar Ajiz Komani, Kamal Hasan alias Bilal alias Billu alias Kalu in connection with the blasts.
