CHENNAI: Stemade Biotech entered a  strategic tie-up with Cholamandalam Distribution Services Limited (CDSL), to reach customers who are interested in preserving their dental stem cells for future use. The company has earmarked a growth path for the next fiscal year, where it is trying to attract customers in 12 centres across India. Things are fast moving in the world of stem cell research, with focus on securing children's future, said Shailesh Gadre, Managing Director, Stemade Biotech Pvt Ltd.Stem cell banking is popular in the West, but dental stem cell banking is slowly picking up in India, he added. Preserving the stem cells from the pulp of a child's tooth is ideal in case of future emergencies. Further, he added that the company plans to establish tie-ups with dental hospitals and leading dentists in cities, and also educate people about the importance of banking stems cells.In the current fiscal year, the company has banked 350 stem cell samples, informed Gadre.Stemade Biotech obtained the licence for dental stem cell banking from Institut Clinident of France to set up banks in Asia and the Middle East region. Currently, the company has six centres in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai Pune and Hyderabad, as far as metros are concerned, and will be expanding to Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Cochin, Surat, Coimbatore. Moreover, the company has plans to open offices in Singapore by the end of fiscal year, he said.Speaking on the occasion, D Arun Selvan, Chief Finance Officer, CISFCL, said that they would provide the most important last mile link between Stemade Biotech and the customers of Cholamandalam and Murugappa Group. The company has plans to introduce bio-insurance, along with stem cell banking facility, he added.
