New Delhi: The Supreme Court has recently received an e-mail which threatened to blow up the Supreme Court building, said sources on Tuesday. The email has been forwarded to the Delhi Police.
Meanwhile, security at the apex court has been hiked and attempts are on to verify the e-mail ID from which the mail was received. The court also has barred the entry of law interns in courtrooms following security threat to the apex court.
Recently, Supreme Court judges Justice Dipak Misra, who had upheld 1993 Mumbai blasts convict Yakub Memon's execution had received a threat letter. The security for all three judges that pronounced the order has been stepped up.
Justice Misra has been provided a bullet proof vehicle while commandos from central paramilitary force have been deployed at his residence.
Delhi Police had registered a case after a threat letter was found near the back entrance of the judge's house at Tughlak Road. The letter stated that Justice Misra will be targeted even if his security is increased.
Memon was convicted in 2007 for his role in the 1993 Mumbai blasts in which 257 people were killed. Charges of financing the terror attacks that were masterminded by his older brother Tiger and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim were levelled against him.
He was hanged on July 30 after a night of unprecedented legal action.
