BANGALORE: Resident Medical Officer of Victoria Hospital today informed the Lokayukta court that it was not advisable to subject former Karnataka minister Katta Subramanya Naidu to a surgery for his spinal problems.Naidu, who has been remanded to judicial custody after his arrest in August in connection with the alleged Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) land scam, is undergoing treatment in the state-run Victoria Hospital.Submitting the final health report before Lokyukta Special Court judge Justice N K Sudhindra Rao, RMO Kantharaj Jain said the Medical Superintendent had stated after reviewing the test reports that surgery is not advisable for him at this stage.Placing the medical report before the court,Jain said Katta was suffering from lymph node cancer for which he had undergone stem cell surgeries in 2004 and 2008 in London. "But now the cancer has been activated".The judge then enquired whether Victoria had a full-fledged Oncology department and when the RMO replied in the negative, directed the RMO to submit a letter on Sept 19 on further necessary medical treatment required for Katta.He also asked RMO to find out and submit in the letter the medical facilities available in Kidwai Institute of Oncology.Katta Subramanya Naidu, his corporator son Jagadish and another person are among nine persons facing charges of irregularities in land allotment of KIADB in B K Halli village to a software company, floated by an aide of Naidu.On July 8, Lokayukta police had filed a chargesheet in the case against nine persons for irregularities in allotment.Naidu had resigned from the B S Yeddyurappa ministry last December after registration of an FIR. Two of the accused are absconding and one got anticipatory bail recently.
