Kochi: Two passengers, a woman and a boy, who arrived in Kochi International Airport at Nedumbassery on Monday morning, were shifted to Temporary Quarantine Room (TQR) in the Airport after they were found with minor symptoms of virus infection.
In the wake of alarming spread of Swine Flu epidemic in various countries, special arrangements were made in all Airports to screen all passengers reaching the country.
The 27-year-old woman arrived from Vienna and the 11-year-old boy came from United Kingdom. The Airport health staff found the passengers suffering from some minor symptoms, suspected to be symptoms of H1 N1 disease, commonly known as Swine Flu.
However, they were immediately shifted to the temporary quarantine room in the Airport for detailed screening.
The Airport Authorities refused to divulge the details of symptoms of passengers, as the cases were yet to be confirmed.
A five-member expert team from the Ernakualm General Hospital rushed to the Airport and started examining the passengers. It would take at least three hours to confirm the results of the examination, Health Department sources said.
The Airport sources said there was no need to panic, as the authorities were observing all incoming passengers. The passengers were removed to isolation room to prevent the disease spreading elsewhere.
