Tax case: Chennai court summons CM Jayalalithaa on October 1

Chennai: The Egmore Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on Thursday directed Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and her partner Sasikala to appear in the Income Tax (IT) case on October 1.

The case is related to the non-filing of income tax returns by Jayalalithaa and Sasikala in their individual capacity for 1993-94.

Complaints were also filed by the IT department against them for allegedly failing to file returns as partners of Sasi enterprise for assessment years 1991-92 and 92-93.
