Kolkata: Having not expected her portrayal in 'Take One' will get so much acceptance from the audience, actor Swastika Mukherjee says her sole aim was to put scanner thoughts about according due honour and recognition to women in this society.
"Amazed the film had got such whole-hearted acceptance from people, youngsters and others. Many women had spoken to me, many had texted. Even from outside Bengal. In Hyderabad film festival Take One got such ovation after screening and it showed language was no barrier and some issues will remain universal," Swastika told PTI here.
Concurring women had no alternatives but to conform to certain norms in this patriarchal society, Swastika said all thoughts which randomly popped up in her mind, as a woman, single mom, actor, daughter and showbiz personality, came up in this prism where the mythological Sita came as metaphor. "If you ask for any message the film talks about, it is not preachy, but yes, it called for giving respect to women, each and every woman in this society," Swastika, also coming up in a film with Rituparna Sengupta, said.
"Yes Me and Ritudi are turning up together in Mainak's upcoming film. She is a warm-hearted human being. Having a fantastic co-actor is always a bonus as that helps in recreating life and its happenings on the screen in the true sense. But being a crafty improviser, who keeps tweaking and tinkering dialogues, plots and roles, can't predict the twists and turnstill the date of release probably," the Jaanla actor by Buddhadev Dasgupta said.
"The film's running for four weeks with full occupancy in weekends in plexes and many single screens and the lapping up of its home video day after launch in stores, shows there can be takers for such themes and one must take the risk," Moinak said.
