MANGALORE: By no conventional standard 24 year-old Kripa T G, who completed her masters in computer applications this June, is a philanthropist. Yet she drew a smile on faces of a few needy children and adults by celebrating Christmas with HIV positive children in ‘Samvedana’ on Monday. Kripa who supports upcoming student bands by facilitating shows decided to enlist their help in order to entertain children with foot-tapping Hindi and Kannada numbers on Christmas eve. However, she found most bands were booked for Christmas eve. Most sponsors, whom she had sought out to support the initiative by paying for sweets and snacks for children, backed out when she them that she did not work for any NGO. When she advanced the day to December 19, Shads Events and Promos volunteered to entertain children free of cost. Tattoo artists raised money earned from an exhibition, ‘Kala Mela’, to sponsor sweets for the children and Kripa dug deep into her meager resources to chip in the remaining amount for buying snacks for children. “You don’t have to be in an organisation to do something. What I have done, anybody can do,” she said.
