Three held for raping mentally-ill woman

TIRUNELVELI: Three persons have been arrested in connection with the gang-rape of a mentally-challenged woman at Ambasamudram. Police said a mentally- challenged woman, in her 30s, was admitted in an ashram at Vikramasingapuram. On June 18, however, she escaped from the ashram. Her husband then lodged a police complaint on Tuesday that she was detained and raped by a gang at a house. John Kaliappan, 57, Mana­kavalapanidan, 58,  and Kannan, 43, were arrested.
