Three more bishops for Jacobite Church

KOCHI: Rambans Gabriel, Barsomo and  Semavoon were elevated metropolitans by Catholicos Mor Baselios Thomas I of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church at a function held at St Athanasius Cathedral, Puthencruz, on Monday. The new metropolitans were named Elias Mor Yulios, Thomas Mor Alexndrios and Sacaria Mor Polycarpos, respectively. Another Ramban Stephanos will be consecrated at a function to be held at Damascus on January 15.  Ramban Gabriel is the son of O P V Varkey and Saramma of Azhakam.  He is a post-graduate in Commerce and Philosophy. He studied theology at Emmanuel Theological Seminary, New Delhi.  He was serving as the priest of Eldo Mar Baselios Church, Vengola, and the manager of Guardian Angel organisations.Ramban Barsomo is a graduate in commerce. Barsomo studied theology at Dehradun and was serving as the priest of Velloor St Mary’s Church and director of  Santhwana Guidance and Counselling Centre.  Ramban Semavoonis a post-graduate in Hindi and English. He was serving as the priest of St Mary’s Church, Mazhuvangad.  Ramban Semavoon was also the convenor of Parumala projects and the Youth Associationpresident of Niranam Diocese. Ramban Stephanos is a post-graduate in economics and has secured a PhD from Salsburg University in Austria.He studied theology at the United Theological Seminary, Bangalore, and Vettikkal Syrian Orthodox Seminary.
