These paintings, cherishing the wonderful experiences of the three artists in Nepal, are now on display.

Three painters from Kerala named Jagadish Palayat, (Vadakara native), KV Sreejesh and Sreekumar Mavoor, (Kozhikode native) have stirred the headlines for their out-of-the-box creative pursuit. According to Local 18 Kerala, these three painters have described their experience of travelling to Nepal by curating pictures. A remarkable feature of these creations is that Jagadish, Sreejesh and Sreekumar have painted 55 of the 70 paintings live. These paintings, cherishing the wonderful experiences of the three artists in Nepal, are now on display. To date, many writers have recounted their travel experiences in the form of travelogues. A travelogue is a truthful account given by a traveller of their experiences on a journey. It is a type of nonfiction novel. Telling stories in the form of pictures is uncommon, and that’s what increases the popularity of these creations further. As of now, the art exhibition is going on in Vadakara. After that, these paintings will be exhibited in Kozhikode as well.

Jagadish, Sreejesh and Sreekumar covered a journey of about 250 km from Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital to Sarangkot in March 2023. These three have travelled between these places in Nepal as a part of the cultural exchange of South Indian countries. The three artists came across many people, serene places and streets between Kathmandu and Sarangkot which they decided to present as their memories from the trip.

The art exhibition shows people dressed in different outfits which depicts how the three artists intermingled with the natives from different backgrounds. Apart from the paintings, they have also opted for pencil sketches of some people. Alongside two such sketches, Jagadish, Sreejesh and Sreekumar have also attached a newspaper clipping. One of the paintings shows a person crossing a sea amidst stormy weather on a sailing boat.

The link between art and travel has been maintained for many generations now. Whether people travel alone or in groups, on foot, on animals, in caravans, on ships, or using modern modes of transportation like planes, trains, and automobiles, art can capture how and why people move through the world.
