PUDUCHERRY: Even as the Tamil Nadu police intensified their search for MLA P M L Kalyanasundaram (34), accused of using a proxy for his Class X examinations, the former education minister remained elusive on Sunday.After his anticipatory bail petition was rejected by the Madras High Court, Kalyanasundaram went into hiding.On Saturday, Chief Minister N Rangasamy recommended to Lieutenant Governor Iqbal Singh that Kalyanasundaram be removed from the council of ministers in the Union Territory. However, the TN police, who were on the hunt for Kalyanasundaram for a while now, have been unable to ascertain his whereabouts.Who Will Handle Education Portfolio?Opposition leader V Vaithilingam on Sunday asked Chief Minister N Rangasamy to reveal who would handle the education portfolio in his cabinet, in the absence of PML Kalyanasundaram.The Education Department is huge and the CM should make it clear whether he himself would look after it or if somebody else would handle the portfolio, Vaithilingam said during a press meet here on Sunday.The department has 10,000 teachers, 1000 lecturers and other employees attached to it, the former Chief Minister said. On Kalyanasundaram, Vaithilingam said that it was unethical to drop him when the ruling party claimed that the CM already had Kalyanasundaram’s resignation letter in his possession.
