The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB), in association with the Entrepreneurs Development Institute, conducted a one-day training programme on occupational health and safety for workers of effluent treatment plants here recently.
The training programme had four lectures covering the topics of industrial hygiene, occupational health safety issues, physical, chemical and biological hazards, use of personal protective equipment and safety practices in the industry.
Tamil Nadu Minister for Environment, PV Ramana, who inaugurated the training session, urged the participants to share knowledge in order to ensure a pollution-free State. About 200 employees from various organisations participated. Over 2,000 people had benefited from these programmes conducted in nine districts of Tamil Nadu earlier.
