PUDUCHERRY: Nirmal Kumar, the foster son of Allaine Jeyamani, a French citizen who was found dead in her house on Wednesday night, was among three persons arrested in connection with the murder, police said on Friday. Police said the others arrested were a maid servant Vinnarasi (23)and her friend Rangarajan (24).Jewels weighing 75 sovereigns, 450 gms of silverware, 830 euros, Rs 54,000 and two cellphones were recovered. He said that Nirmal, a painter, had been expecting some financial help from Jeyamani for the last eight years. As this did not happen, a frustrated Nirmal masterminded the murder and conspired with Vinnarasi and Rangarajan to kill her. On February 8, Nirmal left the house early in the morning. Vinnarasi, who did the domestic work in the house, reached in the afternoon and was engaged in a conversation with Jeyamani. Rangarajan also reached the house and locked the door.When Jeyamani questioned his action, Rangarajan and Vinnarasi attacked her and later slit Jeyamani’s throat. Nirmal returned to the house in the evening and informed the police that he found Jeyamani lying in a pool of blood in the house.Police said they got the vital clue from a telephonic conversation Jeyamani had with one of her sons, who called from France. On an enquiry with him over the phone, Jeyamani had replied that Vinnarasi was with her at the time of the call.
