HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has decided not to take part in voting for the election of Assembly speaker scheduled to take place on Saturday. The party is of the opinion that the ruling party should take the responsibility of the speaker’s election and the process should be completed unanimously. “If the main opposition party, Telugu Desam, forces election, the TRS has no other option than to stay away from voting. As far as the TRS is concerned, neither the Congress nor the TDP is better in their approach to Telangana.’’KT Rama Rao, MLA and son of party chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, took strong exception to TDP’s decision to field its candidate and felt that it was an exercise to enact a drama. “The TDP leadership knows the strength of each party in the House. It also knows that the supporters of YSR Congress will not vote for its candidate.”The TRS leader said that if Chandrababu Naidu wanted to pull down the government on farmers’ issue, he should concentrate seriously on the no-trust motion. “If the TDP moves no-trust motion in the Assembly, the TRS will support the motion not because it has any love for the TDP but because it wants to expose the Congress.’’The TRS leader defended issuance of notice for the motion to the Assembly secretary by the Telugu Desam. “The Assembly is in session since it has not been prorogued by the governor. As far as I know, the TDP has proceeded in the right way,” he said.
