KOLLAM: At a time when much is discussed about the security of women in the trains, a woman passenger on board the first class compartment of a super fast train had to face harassment by two ticket examiners.M R Jayageetha, poet and Research Officer in State Planning Board, had to face the bad experience from two ticket examiners of the Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Super Fast Express on Friday evening. She had lodged a complaint against ticket examiners, identified as Jaffer and Praveen, for hurling abusive words and misbehaviour. She said in the complaint that the duo had been misbehaving to women passengers regularly. Jayageetha, a regular passenger of the train, was alone in a compartment when one of the ticket examiners asked her to come and join them in another compartment. Jayageetha informed about the misbehaviour to her husband and DYFI Kollam area secretary Shivaprasad. He immediately reached the railway station and the train arrived around 7 p.m. The two ticket examiners allegedly showered abusive words on Shivaprasad and Jayageetha. Following this, the couple met the Station Manager and lodged a complaint. Meanwhile, senior Congress leader V M Sudheeran, who had arrived at the station to board a train, met Jayageetha and inquired about the incident. He immediately took up the matter with Additional Railway Divisional Manager and asked to take immediate action.
