Two motorcycle-borne armed men looted Rs 40 lakh from a vehicle belonging to a private power firm near here in Chhattisgarh on Friday, police said.
"The vehicle (an SUV) carrying around Rs 40 lakh for DB Power's plant in Janjgir-Champa district was stopped by two armed men, who looted the cash at gun-point and fled," Raigarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Bhagat said.
The car was on its way to the adjoining district from Kharsiya town in Raigarh district and the incident took place near Basnajhariya village, he said.
The cash, being transported under supervision of three employees of the plant, was meant for payment to labourers at the power facility, the SP said.
According to him, the employees had withdrawn the amount from Kharsiya branch of a public sector bank and were heading to their plant located in Dhabhra village of Janjgir-Champa district.
A manhunt for the robbers has been launched, he added.
