TIRUNELVELI: Two bombs were reportedly found on the premises of a temple at Krishnapuram near Tirunelveli on Thursday. According to police sources, the Tirunelveli district police office received an anonymous phone call that bombs were planted at the Venkatachalapathy temple at Krishnapuram. A police team, led by DSP Kanagaraj, Sivathipatti Inspector Seelaikkari and forensic expert Monna Mohamed rushed to the spot. The police found two bombs, packed in a polythene bag, on the roof of an office building located on the temple premises. The bombs were said to be covered by jute and threads, with chemicals like aluminium powder visible inside. When contacted by Express, Tirunelveli SP Vijayendra S Bidarai confirmed that the local police received a call about the presence of the bombs. “Subsequently, police went to the spot and found them. Aluminium powder was found inside them, but no explosive substances were present,” he said.
