Haryana: Haryana police on Tuesday dismissed from services the two constables accused of raping a women in a Rohtak police station.

The woman had committed suicide by consuming poison outside Haryana police headquarters in Panchkula on Monday.

The day after 25-year-old Sarita committed suicide at the police headquarters at Panchkula alleging that she was raped by two constables, the accused head constable Balraj Singh and constable Silk Ram have both been sacked now.

However, that is of little consolation to Sarita's husband.

“They sent people who tried to bribe me. They asked me to take Rs three lakh and withdraw the case,” says Sarita's Husband, Subhash.

The incident happened when Sarita went to the police station to free her husband Subhash who was reportedly framed in a motorcycle theft. The cops then had allegedly demanded Rs 6000 for his release.

It seems after months of frustrated attempts of Subhash to get justice, the police now seems to have woken up.

“ADGP (crime) will find out why delays took place at various levels to sort out the rape complaint. Enquiry team will submit the report within 10 days. The two dismissed cops are still absconding and the Haryana police will screen in all districts to find out criminal tendencies among policemen,” says DGP, Haryana, Rajit Dalal.

Meanwhile, as both accused cops are on the run, an inquiry has been set up to find out why there was a delay in registering the rape case.
