UGC told not to destroy NET answer sheets
UGC told not to destroy NET answer sheets

The Kerala High Court on Friday directed the University Grants Commission (UGC) to keep safe the answer sheets of the candidates who appeared for the National Eligibility Test (NET).

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice A M Shaffique passed the order while considering a batch of petitions challenging the UGC’s decision to alter the pass percentage of the recently conducted NET. The petitioners pointed out that usually the UGC destroys the answer sheets soon after the result of the examination is out.

The petitioners said that after the conduct of the examination and immediately before the publication of the result, the UGC notified a change in the qualifying criteria and prescribed a minimum qualifying percentage.

The petitioners alleged that the UGC has no authority to fix any aggregate minimum for a pass in the examination.
