United States Ambassador to India Nancy J Powell has said that a trade mission from United States will visit Kerala in February.
She was speaking after inaugurating the American Business Corner (ABC) at the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mattancherry, here on Tuesday.
Powell said that the mission would comprise the representatives of small, medium and large companies in the US. “It will be an opportunity for the American companies to see for themselves the great opportunities that exist here,” she said.
The Ambassador said that the ABCs here and in Thiruvananthapuram (opened on Monday ), would act as clearing houses to connect the Kerala-based companies with the US companies interested in doing business here.
“Seminars on topics ranging from trade finance to international logistics will be held under the initiative of ABC. We will strive to ensure that all the interested companies have the information needed to do business with US,” Powell said.
She would be holding a video conference on Tuesday night with the top executives of hundreds of companies to share the opportunities here in the state. “Trade brings people together, creates jobs and provides countless new opportunities for people in both the countries,” she added.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the function, she said that around 22 companies, including logistics major Fedex and Coca-Cola from US, are taking part in the ‘Emerging Kerala’ meet.
ICCI president P L Prakash James presided over the function.
