CHENNAI: A US-based Indian doctor, against whom a ‘Look-out Circular (LOC)’ notice was issued by the Hyderabad police in connection with a cheating case, was detained by immigration authorities at the city airport on Friday. According to what airport inspector Ravindran told Express, Dr Panchapakesan Kalambur Viswanathan (59), a native of Tirupattur, Vellore, is a resident of Georgia in the US. For the last five years, he has been working in the trauma care wing of the Murray-Calloway County Hospital at Chatsworth. His wife, two daughters and a son also reside in the US. “The doctor arrived here on November 2, following the demise of his mother,” the officer said. During his visit, Panchapakesan stayed at his brother’s house in Shanthi Colony, Anna Nagar. On Thursday night, he arrived at the airport to board an Emirates flight, scheduled for departure at 9.40 pm, to return to the US via Dubai. This was when he was detained, as an LOC was issued against him by the ADGP, CID, Andhra Pradesh, in connection with a 2001 case in which he was booked under Sections 420, 403, 408, 477(A), 201, 120(B) of the IPC, the inspector said.
