BANGALORE: Following the Friday’s expose on the answer scripts’ leak scam, Vice-Chancellor  of Bangalore University (BU) Dr N Prabhu Dev has called upon Bangalore City Police Commissioner B G Jyothi Prakash Mirji to provide armed security guards round-the-clock to all evaluation centres during examinations and evaluation of answer scripts. “I have written to the police commissioner to provide the same security as they would do in case of ballot boxes after elections and before counting. The answer scripts should be treated as votes in the ballot boxes,” said VC Prabhu Dev in a press statement. A high profile committee with two joint police commissioners and S Ramakrishna (Retd IGP) as members and VC as the chairperson would be constituted to probe into the matter. “I have requested the police commissioner to spare the services of two joint commissioners to serve on the committee to suggest a fool-proof security system for the conduct of examinations and evaluation,” said VC Prabhu Dev. He further added that measures such as total CCTV coverage and personal ID cards  for all personnel            would be mooted. Conspiracy? He further hinted that the sting operation was to damage the reputation of the university. “This successful and planned sting operation makes a strong case for use of high-end technology and professional security measures to prevent such motivated operations to bring discredit to BU,” wrote the VC. “The answer scripts shown by the media contain the register number. Obviously, this answer script is before valuation, as any answer script going for evaluation after scanning gets a dummy number and a 2D bar-code,” he said adding that it was impossible to identify to whom the answer script belongs to at this stage. ‘Case will be cracked’The VC expressed confidence that the case would be solved soon. “I have discussed the matter with the investigating team from Wilson Garden police station. The culprit has been arrested ” said the VC in the statement. He added that the matter was under investigation and the police are confident that they would be able to crack the case.
