Visitor enters Vellore prison with spy-cam

VELLORE: In what could be described as a security lapse, a smart visitor managed to sneak into the Vellore central prison on Monday, with a pen with spy-cam, breaking the security net.An Express photographer was able to grab the picture of this person going through the security check.All this happened even as officials have reportedly beefed up security at the prison following the announcement of the date for execution of the Rajiv Gandhi case convicts.While security guards at the entrance are looking for most conspicuous materials, weapons and other security-related items from visitors, it is advisible that they should also be take note of small devices such as spy-cam that might be misused by visitors or prisoners.The prison authorities are trying to cordon off the gallows by erecting barricades around it, so that the location is isolated during the execution.Efforts are also on to erect additional surveillance cameras around the prison compounds.
