CHENNAI: A woman, who allegedly stole a baby from Tiruvannamalai GH, was arrested and the infant was rescued on Wednesday.A special police team led by ACP B Kalitheerthan spotted the woman, accompanied by two children, loitering around Koyambedu bus stand, said a release.When the ACP questioned her, she identified herself as M Salsa (27) of Anuppathur, Cheyyar Taluk. Upon being interrogated, Salsa confessed that she had stolen the boy from a woman at Tiruvannamalai GH. When Salsa took her child to the district GH, she befriended another woman with a baby boy. When the other woman went to fetch water, leaving her son in Salsa’s care, she left with the baby boy and boarded a bus to Koyambedu, hoping to find brokers to sell the infant in Chennai. One got away. The police nabbed the other person, who was identified as C Saravanan (32) of Salem. He confessed to the chain snatching and stealing four Tata Sumo vehicles from Bangalore. The police are looking out for his accomplice Guru.
