Women's Golf Association of India launched the biggest and the richest event in the history of Indian women's golf.

New Delhi: The Women's Golf Association of India launched the biggest and the richest ever event in the history of Indian women's golf.

The $1,00,000 DLF Women's Indian Open will tee off at the DLF Golf and Country Club on March 14. The tournament falls under the last leg of the Ladies Asian Golf Tour.

More than 85 top women golfers from around the world are expected to take part in the tournament with American Libby Smith and Smriti Mehra among the prominent names.

The Indian tour is worth Rs 9 lakh with each event carrying a prize tag of Rs 1.5 lakh.
