BANGALORE: Even though Karnataka has a potential of adding around 50,000 MW in a year, it has failed due to the procedural delays that affect the commissioning of the project. The issue was highlighted by the wind power investors at the annual conference of the Indian Wind Power Association on Thursday.
The investors said that even though Karnataka has a potential of around 50,000 MW, the state has only around 200 MW on an average every year, in contrast to Tamil Nadu that every year adds 1000 MW.K Kasthurirangaian, chairman, Indian Wind Power Council said that due to the bureaucratic hurdles, implementing a wind power project takes longer time and this shows in Karnataka. "It takes nearly two to twoandhalf years to get clearance from environment, forest and revenue departments, which results in investors choosing Tamil Nadu over our state," he said.
