KOCHI: Union Overseas Minister Vayalar Ravi presented the Federal Bank Kerala Business Awards 2011 of World Malayalee Council(WMC) to 11 entrepreneurs at a function held here on Sunday. The award has been instituted to acknowledge the best and most dynamic individuals and organisations in the business sector of Kerala.George Muthoot was presented the Indian Businessman of the Decade Award. Excellence awards were given to Captain Krishnan Nair (Leela Group), M P Ramachandran (Jyothy Labs), Gokulam Gopalan (Gokulam Group), Joy Alukkas (Joyalukkas), Abdul Azeez (Skyline Group), Kochouseph Chittilappily (V-Guard), V P Nandakumar (Manappuram Group), C K Menon (Behzad Group), E M Najeeb (Air Travel Enterprises India Ltd) and Beena Kannan, (Seemati). Special awards were given to playback singer K J Yesudas, T K A Nair and Dr K M Cherian. Speaking at the function the Union Minister said that government had adopted policies favouring the overseas Malayalis. He added that voting rights for the NRIs were implemented under his initiative. The function was inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. He lauded the good works of WMC. Union Civil Supplies Minister K V Thomas spoke.
