Yannick’s family refused to shift him to PGI
Yannick's father Nestor Ntibateganya told media here on Monday at Columbia Asia Hospital that they were not satisfied with the working of the authorities in dealing with the case.

Patiala: Burundi student Yannick Nihangaza’s family has refused to shift him to Chandigarh’s Post Graduate Institute (PGI) until the team of doctors from their Embassy recommends it.

Yannick’s father Nestor Ntibateganya told media here on Monday at Columbia Asia Hospital that they were not satisfied with the working of the authorities in dealing with the case.

"We have been pressurised by local authorities to shift my son to PGI but we have to wait and watch the action of Punjab government regarding the case", he said.

"Moreover, we have been waiting for the medical team of our Embassy to arrive here and examine Yannick", he said.

Nestor demanded "action should also be taken against those who had delayed the probe and harboured the culprits. We want action to be taken against those persons who have misled the probe and adopted a lackadaisical attitude in informing high officials about the incident".

23-year-old Yannick, a student of B. Sc computers) in a private university in the state, on April 21 was stoned, severely beaten and left on the roadside by a gang of youth. Some passersby who saw him took Yannick to hospital.
