Good Governance Day is observed on December 25. The day is marked on former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary. In a way, the day pays tribute to Vajpayee’s leadership and his contributions to society.
Good Governance Day History
Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a stalwart in Indian politics, served as the Prime Minister of the country thrice. The Good Governance Day goes back to December 23, 2014, when Atal Bihari Vajpayee, along with Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya (posthumously), was conferred the Bharat Ratna. In the wake of this prestigious recognition, the Narendra Modi-led government declared that December 25 will, henceforth, be observed as Good Governance Day, paying homage to Vajpayee’s legacy.
Good Governance Day Significance
The day serves as a platform to educate citizens about the responsibilities and duties of the government. It aims to bridge the gap between citizens and the government, encouraging active participation from both parties.
