Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele will unveil the label's next Spring/Summer collection at Paris Fashion Week, instead of Milan, for one season only — as the finale of his three-part homage to France.
While the Italian fashion house, which is owned by the French conglomerate Kering, will be absent from its usual spot on the Milan runway, the shift has been confirmed as a one-off occurrence, with the date for its Paris presentation — September 24 — carefully chosen to avoid impacting Fashion Week schedules, according to Gucci president & CEO Marco Bizzarri.
Leading up to the brand's Paris Fashion Week show, and as part of Michele's ode to France, Gucci has recently launched an ad campaign recreating the 1968 student protests in Paris, and will also hold its cruise 2019 fashion show on May 30 on the Promenade Des Alyscamps, an ancient Roman site outside the township of Arles.
The brand will eventually head back to its home roots in Italy, however, to stage a special event at the Gucci Hub on September 19, during the second day of Milan Women's Fashion Week, which is scheduled to run from September 18-24 (via Vogue UK).
