HOW TO CELEBRATE TULSI PUJAN DIWAS?
- Offer prayers and puja to the Tulsi plant.
- Sing devotional songs and hymns.
- Light lamps and incense sticks.
- Offer garlands and flowers to the Tulsi plant.
- Eat a special meal called a prasad.
TULSI PUJAN DIWAS RITUALS
PREPARATION
- Wake up early and take a bath. Wear clean clothes.
- Clean the area where your Tulsi plant is kept. Make a rangoli (floor mandala) if desired.
- Gather puja items. You’ll need water, milk (optional), Gangajal (optional), tulsi leaves, flowers, fruits, kumkum (vermilion), turmeric, incense sticks, diya (earthen lamp), and ghee (clarified butter).
RITUALS
- Gently pour water onto the Tulsi roots while chanting a mantra like “Om Vishnupriya namah” or simply offering your prayers.
- You can also offer raw milk as well, believing it wards off bad luck.
- If you have Gangajal (holy water from the Ganges River), sprinkle some on the Tulsi after offering water.
- Offer leaves, flowers, and fruits: Place fresh tulsi leaves, flowers, and fruits like banana or mango near the plant.
- Make a tilak (mark) on the stem of the Tulsi plant using kumkum and turmeric paste.
- Light incense sticks and a diya filled with ghee near the Tulsi plant.
- Sing bhajans (devotional songs) dedicated to Tulsi Mata or Lord Vishnu. You can also chant the Vishnu Sahasranama (thousand names of Vishnu).
- Take the diya and perform a circular motion around the Tulsi plant while chanting “Om Tulsi Devi namah” or other mantras.
- Fold your hands and sincerely offer your prayers to Tulsi Mata and Lord Vishnu for blessings of health, happiness, prosperity, and peace.
- Walk around the Tulsi plant seven times while chanting mantras or prayers.
- Offer some of the fruits or sweets to Tulsi Mata and then distribute the remaining as prasad (blessed food) to everyone present.
