Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary
The Salim Ali bird sanctuary is located at the western tip of the island of Chorao, directly on the mighty Mandovi River. It is a very fascinating mangrove swamp, “a paradise for ornithologists” and one of the best wildlife reserves in Goa.
Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary
This may be the smallest of all wildlife reserves in Goa, but it is certainly one of the most beautiful in the region for several reasons. It is located in the Ponda region and is well located, a little off the coast, extends over a quite considerable stretch of a nature reserve about 8 km² long and is gracefully located in the middle of the lush green Westghats. You have the opportunity to see a wide range of wildlife species, including Indian bison, Sambar deer, Indian peacocks, Malabar giant squirrels, various deer and snakes.
Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary
The Molem Wildlife Sanctuary is the core area of the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and has been named the largest wildlife sanctuary in Goa. It is conveniently located in the Sanguem region of Goa and is frequently visited by tourists and locals alike. They can see and observe a large variety of wildlife species in their natural habitat, such as B Muntjak, Black Panther, Bengali Tiger, Leopard, Hatmacaque, Wild Boar and many others.
Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary
It is only a new addition to the list of the best wildlife reserves in Goa, but the said place has earned its reputation as one of the most beautiful attractions in the state. It has a very good location in Sanguem Taluka in East Goa and the entire protected area should extend over an area of 211 km² in the middle of the enchanting Western Ghats. It takes its name from Netravali or Natural, an important tributary of the Zuari River and an extremely important freshwater source in the region in question.
Molem Wildlife Sanctuary
The Molem Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the quietest wildlife reserves in Goa and an idyllic paradise for all nature lovers. For thrill-seekers, this is the perfect place, as Molem happens to be the core area of the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary, which houses various wild species that are simply beautiful. You can observe about 130 different bird species in this protected area, and this is exactly what makes Molem a refuge for birdwatchers.
