She started off her career as a badminton player in national-level championships as a teenager. But then she left her career in sports to become a fashion model which paved the path for her in the film industry. She is Deepika Padukone, the daughter of the badminton player Prakash Padukone. She marked her acting debut in 2006 with the Kannada film Aishwarya. She got her first Bollywood break with Farah Khan’s romantic-musical, Om Shanti Om opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

Deepika Padukone was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and brought up in Bengaluru. While her father was ranked World No. 1 in 1980, she too followed him in his footsteps initially. In an interview once, she revealed, “I realised that I was playing the game only because it ran in the family. So, I asked my father if I could give up the game and he wasn’t upset at all." Before making it big in Bollywood, she was seen in many ads like Liril, Close Up, BSNL, Parachute Oil and Limca.
The Bajirao Mastani actress joined Anupam Kher’s film academy. Meanwhile, Farah Khan was looking for a model and approached Malaika Arora, who referred Deepika, who was referred by one of the famous fashion designers, Wendell Rodricks. She was finally roped in for Om Shanti Om.
From here onwards, there has been no turning back for Deepika Padukone. She has collaborated with actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Irrfan Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Saif Ali Khan and even Akshay Kumar.
She has given several hits like Piku, Bajirao Mastani, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. In 2023, she was paired with Shah Rukh Khan once again for Jawan and Pathaan which emerged to be blockbuster hits.
Deepika Padukone will be next seen in Singham Again. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh tied the knot in 2018 and on September 8, the couple embraced parenthood after they welcomed a baby girl.
