It is just a two-day wait for the grand release of Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, probably the biggest Indian film to grace the big screens this year. Made on a budget of Rs 600 crore, the film is the most expensive Indian film made to date. Kalki 2898 AD needs to do phenomenal business to recover its cost of making. To facilitate the film in earning more, the Andhra Pradesh government has now allowed a hike for the tickets for the movie.
The government has approved a ticket price increase of Rs 75 for single-screen cinemas and Rs 125 for multiplexes, applicable for two weeks starting from the movie’s release date and for all five daily showings. This decision follows a request from Aswini Dutt, the producer of Kalki 2898 AD, categorised as a ‘Super High Budget Film’.
The anticipated decision is aimed at increasing the revenue of the film, one of the year’s most eagerly awaited releases. The hike in ticket prices and the inclusion of extra showings are anticipated to bring advantages to both filmmakers and exhibitors.
Kalki 2898 AD is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology juxtaposed with a futuristic dystopian world. According to the makers, the narrative of the film starts from the events of the Mahabharata and continues until the year 2998 AD, as the title suggests. The movie stars an ensemble cast of Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Shobhana and Disha Patani.
Recently, SS Rajamouli, who is also known for making huge larger-than-life films, dropped praises on the release trailer that was unveiled three days back, from his X handle.
