They were one of the most popular on-screen pairs of the 80s and 90s, but Anil Kapoor says his relationship with Sridevi—who later became his sister-in-law after she married his elder brother Boney Kapoor—was mostly reverential.
In fact, the 61-year-old actor revealed that he’d touch her feet every time he’d meet her, much to her embarrassment. “As an artist I feel blessed to have worked with Srideviji and she had a huge contribution to my career. She was an actor with immeasurable talent who could fill the screen with her magic. We shouldn’t remember her with sadness and rather celebrate her brilliance as a performer with love, affection and joy,” Anil Kapoor said in a recent special episode of TV show Dance Plus, which was dedicated to the late actor.
Notably, Anil and Sridevi have worked together in several popular films, including Mr. India, Lamhe, Laadla and Judaai. Veteran actor Jeetendra also accompanied Anil on the show. He and Sridevi too were a popular pair in the 80s and have starred together in several hit films like Himmatwala, Tohfa, Suhaagan, Mawaali and Ghar Sansar.
In one of the most shocking incidents of 2018, Sridevi died earlier this year on February 24 due to accidental drowning. She was in Dubai to attend the wedding of a relative, Mohit Marwah.
The late actor—who is survived by her producer husband Boney Kapoor and two daughters Janhvi and Khushi—will be seen posthumously in a song in Aanad L Rai’s upcoming film Zero.
