Anupamaa’s Madalsa Sharma recently opened up about her co-star Rupali Ganguly. After quitting the show where she played Kavya for over four years, Madalsa opened up about some behind-the-scenes drama. In a candid chat with Siddharth Kannan, she revealed that there were a few instances when she found out Rupali had been talking about her behind her back.
Madalsa admitted that it hurt her, especially since they worked together and she had no hard feelings towards Rupali. “Sometimes, I felt that someone is a certain way in front of us, but they aren’t the same behind our backs. A few times, I felt that things were not said in a very polished way about me and when I got to know, it hurt me. I was like ‘Why?’ Firstly, I have nothing against you, we are actors we work together,” she said.
Madalsa Sharma shared that there were times when she felt genuinely hurt by Rupali Ganguly’s actions on set. She explained that she hadn’t done anything to deserve such behaviour and didn’t understand why it happened. She said, “There were a couple of incidents where I was genuinely hurt. I mean I haven’t done anything to you for you to behave this way with me. Or if I have done something wrong, then I will understand perhaps why someone is acting this way with me but when I haven’t done anything… Then I was like, either you be this way in front of me as well that if you don’t like me, say it to my face but don’t talk behind my back.”
Madalsa clarified that these were minor incidents that often get miscommunicated on large sets with many people involved in the show’s production. “We would just look into each other’s eyes and just know that things are a little disturbed between us so let’s sort it out. We would sit together, talk about it and then move on, and we would hug it out also. Like forget it now, bygones are bygones. Neither of us took an initiative to resolve anything, it was just organic. Organic and respectful,” she added.
After Madalsa quit the show, Rupali texted her. “She said all the best, don’t disappear and be in touch, and we’ll catch up and talk in leisure. This happened just a day or two after I quit,” she recalled. But when asked if he will miss Rupali, Madalsa said she won’t.
