Big Sean and his singer-songwriter girlfriend Jhene Aiko have been together for about eight years and are parents to a son. However, despite being in a relationship for quite some time, the American Rapper still feels that marriage is not something they want to rush in. Big Sean explained that they aren’t married yet because “there’s a lot of work that needs to be done.” In a recent interview, Sean shared that although they’ve faced their ups and downs, they are still navigating their relationship and aren’t ruling out marriage in the future.
On Friday, August 2, Charlamagne Tha God released a new episode of his iHeartRadio podcast, Out of Context, with an interview with the Bounce Back rapper, 36. In the candid conversation, Charlamagne, 46, discussed various topics with Sean, including fatherhood, Kendrick Lamar’s private apology for the leaked Element diss track and more.
During the interview, when the radio host inquired about why he and Jhene Aiko, also 36, hadn’t married yet or if they had a secret wedding, he said, “No, no, there has not been a secret industry marriage.”
“It’s a little personal, you know what I mean? But just like to be real with you, just like any people who have dealt with love, we’ve had our ups and downs, you know what I’m saying? And I think it’s still finding the right navigation through it all,” he said.
He continued, “To me, marriage symbolises like the best relationship.”
The My Last Artist mentioned that the pressure to get married can come from a place of fear, especially considering the high divorce rates. However, he didn’t rule out the possibility of marriage in the future.
“I would like to, and I don’t like putting our personal business out there like that either, but there’s a lot of work that needs to be done,” Sean explained.
Charlamagne then shared some advice, saying, “Well take it from somebody who’s been with their woman for twenty-six years, right? It’s always gonna be ups and downs, period. The work’s never gonna stop.”
Sean and Aiko first met in 2012 and have reportedly been dating on and off since 2016. In November 2022, the couple welcomed their first child, Noah Hasani.
