BTS' Jin Reconnects With Fans In First Live After Military Discharge, Says 'I Cried Twice'
Pictures and videos of Jin’s military discharge have flooded the internet.

It was an emotional moment for BTS singer Jin who reunited with his boyband members after his military discharge on Wednesday, May 12. The K-pop idol enlisted in the Korean Army in December 2022 and served in the military for 18 months before making a return. Jin’s discharge ceremony was extra special as the 31-year-old received a warm welcome from his team — RM, J Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook. The teammates took a special leave to celebrate Jin’s return. Suga was unable to join the squad for reasons unknown. Alongside the paparazzi, the BTS fans also marked their presence outside the military site to catch a glimpse of the singer.

Overwhelmed by the amount of love showered upon him, Jin admitted that he was unable to hold back his tears at the time of his dismissal. In a live session in Weverse, he confessed to “crying a lot.” Jin’s sentimental disclosure has melted the hearts of fans. An excerpt of what he said was recently dropped on X (formerly Twitter).

In his statement, an emotional Jin shared that after watching the other BTS members “sobbing” he could not help but cry his heart out. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been on camera. I’m usually good-looking and very confident about my looks but I cried earlier so I’m not very confident about it today. I cried twice today. I told my juniors who were with me for 1 year and 4 months, to not cry cause I wouldn’t be able to not cry if they did but they ended up sobbing so there was no way I couldn’t cry,” he said.

The official X handle of BTS shared a group photo of the septet on the platform. SUGA was present too. The OT7 posed for the click flashing joyous smiles as they celebrated Jin’s return by cutting a cake. A banner behind them read “Jin is back”. “I’m home” read the note, accompanying the post.

Pictures and videos of Jin’s military discharge have flooded the internet. In them, he was seen walking out of the military premises, saluting the others and patiently posing for the camera. He was welcomed with a flower bouquet from the BTS members who later on gave Jin a warm hug. The group’s leader RM was in a cheerful mood as he played their hit song Dynamite on a saxophone.

Except for Jin, the other BTS members are still serving their mandatory military duties. They are expected to reunite as a full group in 2025.
