However, despite these speculations, a trusted source close to the Hollywood couple has cleared the air by assuring that Martin and Johnson have not gone separate ways and are still going strong. At the moment, Dakota Johnson, who has been spotted dancing enthusiastically at Coldplay concerts over the years, is busy with her new project The Materialists. On the other hand, Martin is in London, leading Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres world tour.
This isn’t the first time they are facing breakup rumours, they had a brief split in 2019 but reunited soon. Now, despite fresh rumours, it seems the pair is still very much a couple. In a conversation with Page Six, Johnson’s representative told the portal, “The reports are not true. They are happily together.”
As per earlier People reports, Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson were seen together at the Glastonbury Festival in the UK, where the actress was cheering for Martin during his band’s performance in June. This appearance came after reports confirmed their relationship was stable and strong. Despite having some ups and downs in the past, they were in a good place. Meanwhile, a music insider revealed that the couple were also spotted in Helsinki earlier this month. Johnson also played a big part for Coldplay, as she helped them for a song ‘feelslikeimfallinginlove.’
Reports about Martin and Johnson first surfaced online when a source told the Daily Mail that the couple had ended their engagement and split permanently. The insider mentioned that they had accepted their relationship was over and decided it was best to move on. The breakup rumours were later fuelled as Dakota Johnson was seen in Malibu without her engagement ring while walking her dog. Speculation about their separation started in May and even though they were spotted together in June, the source confirmed they had indeed split after struggling to stay together.
The source had said, “Chris and Dakota have tried desperately hard over the past few months to make their relationship work. They’ll always have love for each other but they’ve both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term. They’re both busy people, Chris has been in Europe with Coldplay and they both have personal priorities, passions and work commitments which don’t naturally intertwine with each other. They wanted it to work but it just hasn’t, and they’ve now accepted it is best to move on.”
