Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa lands into further legal trouble. The actor, who is currently in police custody in connection with the murder of his fan, could face a chargesheet for illegally homing geese in his farmhouse. As per reports, the forest department and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will submit a charge sheet in the next two days in connection with bar-headed geese.
Hindustan Times reported Darshan and his wife, Vijayalakshmi came under the scanner after the Kannada actor revealed he has a geese at his farmhouse. In a TV interview, the actor confessed he has the bird at his home and also allegedly showed the birds caged up to the interviewer. The birds were rescued after a raid was conducted one night at his property.
A case was filed against Darshan, his wife Vijayalakshmi and farmhouse manager Nagaraj under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, for illegally confinement of migrating bar-headed geese. The geese, which travel to India from Mongolia and Tibet during the winter, are protected under Schedule 2 of the wildlife law.
Chief commissioner Tushar Giri Nath told media, “A preliminary review regarding the status of the buffer zone encroachment near Darshan’s residence and other properties revealed that the stay order issued by the high court is still in effect. The BBMP plans to file a motion to vacate this stay.”
The news of Darshan’s new legal troubles comes days after he was arrested in connection with the murder of his fan, Renukaswamy. For the unversed, Darshan and his girlfriend Pavithra Gowda were taken into custody on charges of murdering Renukaswamy (33), a resident of Chitradurga. Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and a few of his associates have been arrested for the murder of Renuka Swamy.
Renukaswamy was found dead at Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru on June 8, 2024. He used to reportedly work at an Apollo Pharmacy branch in Chitradurga. Previously, police officials claimed that Renuka used to send vulgar messages to Kannada actress Pavithra Gowad, a friend of Darshan. Angry about this, Renuka Swamy was murdered and his dead body was allegedly thrown in a canal at Kamaksshipalya, Bengaluru in front of Darshan. Reportedly, eight of the accused have implicated Darshan, claiming his presence during Renuka Swamy’s assault.
