Darshan-starrer Kaatera Receives 8 Nominations In SIIMA 2024
Kaatera became the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2023 and the seventh highest-grossing Kannada film at the time of release.

The 12th edition of the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) is returning to honour the finest in South Indian cinema. SIIMA festivities capture the spirit of South Indian cinema, bringing together international South Indian film enthusiasts and South Indian film stars. Meanwhile, according to the latest report, Darshan-starrer Kaatera, released last year, received eight nominations in SIIMA 2024.

As per sources, Darshan’s name is nominated in the Best Actor category. Actress Malashri’s daughter, Aradhana Ram, who made her acting debut with the film, has also been nominated in the Best Debutant Actress category. For the outstanding plot, Kaatera has been nominated in the Best Cinema category, and director Tharun Sudhir has also been nominated in the Best Director list. V. Harikrishna’s music direction in Kaatera received immense attention from the audience, and now he has also been nominated in the Best Music Director and Best Playback Singer Male and Female categories.

Kaatera is a Kannada-language action drama film directed by Tharun Sudhir and produced by Rockline Venkatesh. Darshan and Aradhana Ram play the key roles, with Jagapathi Babu, Kumar Govind, Vinod Kumar Alwa, Danish Akhtar Saifi, and Shruti appearing as supporting characters.

The music was composed by V. Harikrishna, while the cinematography and editing were handled by Sudhakar. S. Raj and K. M. Prakash. The film was based on a true story that occurred in a village in Karnataka in the 1970s.

Kaatera was released on December 29, 2023, to positive reviews from critics and became the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2023 and the seventh highest-grossing Kannada film at the time of release.

Reports suggest Dasara, starring Nani and Keerthy Suresh, is the leading Telugu film with 11 nominations. Following closely after is Nani and Mrinal Thakur’s film Hi Nanna. Nani won everyone’s hearts with his perfect performances in both films, which were released in 2023.

Apart from this, Udayanidhi Stalin and Keerthy Suresh’s Mamannan follow closely behind with nine nominations. Similarly, Saptha Sagaradache Ello: Side A, starring Rakshit Shetty and Rukmini Vasant, received seven nominations.

For the unversed, SIIMA 2024 will take place in Dubai on September 14 and 15, with elaborate arrangements. The 12th edition’s winners will be chosen by online voting. Fans can cast their votes for the films starring their favourite stars on the SIIMA website and Facebook page.
