Diljit Dosanjh has received a legal notice from a fan, who was left disheartened after she failed to get a ticket for the singer’s upcoming India tour. As reported by Free Press Journal, the fan identifies herself as Riddhima Kapoor and is a law student based in Delhi.
Reportedly, in her legal notice, she alleged malpractices in the ticket sales process and accused the organisers of the Dil-Luminati Tour of violating consumer rights. “Manipulation for ticket prices, unfair trade practices, and scalping of tickets for Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-luminati India Tour,” the subject of her legal notice read.
She claimed that even though organisers announced September 12, 1 pm, as the ticket booking time, passes were made available at 12:59 pm due to which several fans booked the tickets within a minute. The fan even claimed that she specifically got herself an HDFC Credit Card to avail the early-bird passes but still failed to get a concert ticket.
“This abrupt and suspicious transaction strongly suggests manipulation and scalping practices. The sudden unavailability of tickets indicates that your organisation may be artificially inflating demand and manipulating prices, which constitutes an unfair trade practice under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. The practice of scalping and hoarding of tickets with an intent to resell them at inflated prices is a clear violation of consumer rights and an act of bad faith,” the notice added.
Besides Diljit, the legal notice has also been sent to Zomato, HDFC Bank and Saregama Pvt Ltd. However, they are yet to respond to the notice.
Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati Tour will be an epic 10-city celebration. It will kick off at the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi on October 26, 2024. Following Delhi, the tour will make its way to Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore, Indore, Chandigarh, and Guwahati. The tickets of the show were made available recently but were sold out in minutes. For Delhi, there were just two ticket categories available which started at Rs 19,999 (Fan Pit) and Gold (Phase 3), which was priced at Rs 12,999. The two categories were nearly sold out right away.
