Filmmaker H Vinoth Wins Magudam Award As Favourite Director

News 18 Tamil Nadu presents Magudam awards yearly to honour those who have had achievements in various fields including art, literature, cinema, sports and social service. This year, the Magudam Awards ceremony for 2024 was held in Chennai on August 15. In the ceremony, the Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President K Annamalai and Director Vasanth Sai presented the favourite director award for 2024 to H Vinoth. The Magudam award is presented to those who have brought pride to Tamil Nadu. Since 2017, News 18 Tamil Nadu has been presenting this award and the nominees for this prize are selected by a panel of experts.

About H Vinoth

H Vinoth is known for directing films like Sathuranga Vettai and Theeran Adhigaram Ondru. Now, the 42-year-old director has confirmed that he will be directing actor Thalapathy Vijay’s last film. He made this announcement at the Magudam award show in Chennai. He mentioned that the movie will be a commercial film and not a political film as speculated by the fans. While an official declaration is yet to be made by the makers of Thalapathy 69, the news has sent Vijay’s fans into a frenzy.

Vinoth also spoke about Thalapathy Vijay and Ajith Kumar at the event. He called Thalapathy Vijay a “simple thinking individual,” while he called the latter an “abstract thinking individual.”

Work Front

On the work front, he last directed the film Thunivu, which is currently available on Netflix for the OTT streaming. This film starred Manju Warrier, John Kokken, Samuthirakani and others.

Controversy

While promoting Thunivu, Vinoth had made some controversial remarks that were not received well by users. He said in an interview with a private channel, “There is no need to devote so much time to the cinema. If the film is scheduled to be released on Pongal, reservations will be available three days beforehand. You can watch a movie’s trailer and poster, and tell four people if you like it. If another film is good, go see it too if you have the money. That is the amount of time you have to devote to that film. No one can spend your time better than you.”
