Gurucharan Singh has left everyone wondering if he will be returning to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah soon. Reportedly, the actor, who used to play the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi in the popular sitcom, met the producer of the show Asit Modi on Tuesday (July 16).
Singh and Modi met at the latter’s office in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon. While their meeting left netizens wondering if Singh is returning to TMKOC soon, the actor refused to share any details when approached by the news portal. “I don’t know. Let’s see,” Gurucharan said when asked about his return to the show.
Asit Kumarr Modi also opened up about their meeting in a statement and said, “For me, Sodhi is like my family. He was associated with us for a long period of time. After leaving the show for personal reasons, he used to come to meet me whenever he used to visit Mumbai.”
“I was worried about him for what he did sometime back and out of concern I messaged him. He visited our office today and we had a heart-to-heart conversation today and gave him best wishes for his future,” the producer added.
Gurcharan Singh played the role of Roshan Singh Sodhi — a fun-loving man who is always in party mode and never shies away from expressing love for his wife. He was one of the popular characters on the show, and also a founding cast member. Gurcharan, however, left the show in 2013 only to return next year due to public demand. After his exit in 2020, he was replaced by actor Balwinder Singh Suri. Singh has been missing from our television screens ever since.
In April this year, Singh’s fans were left concerned after the actor went missing. However, he returned home after 26 days. Upon his return, Singh was interrogated by Delhi Police officials following which it was discovered that he had left home to be on a religious journey. Police officials had said that Gurucharan visited Gurudwaras in Amritsar and Ludhiana ever since he was reported “missing” but he later realised that he should return home.
Recently, Gurucharan Singh opened up about his disappearance for the first time when he revealed that he had no plans of coming back. “I have always been spiritual because of my parents and at this point in life when I was feeling low, I turned towards God. I went on a spiritual journey and had no plans of coming back. But God gave me a sign and that made me return home,” Singh told the Bombay Times.
“Many people think I planned my disappearance for publicity, but that’s not true. If I wanted publicity, I could have given interviews to talk about the pending dues for my work in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. I could have used social media to do that, but I didn’t. Even after coming back home, I didn’t give any interviews, but now I am speaking up because I want to clarify certain things that people are saying about me,” the actor added.
